Jay Collins graduated 12 years ago with a BA(Hons) Fine Art degree followed by a Certificate in Printmaking. Her paintings have been selected for prizes and for exhibitions including Sussex, Chichester and Worthing Open exhibitions, and by the BBC Year of the Artist programme and Meridian Television. She was short-listed for the national 50 over 50 Exhibition, and in 2012 won the Brighton Fringe Visual Arts Prize. As a local artist, Jay was among the first in Kemptown in 2002 to open her studio to the general public each year during the May Brighton Festival. She contributes colourful illustrations to the pub series in Viva Brighton each month.
Being primarily an urban landscape artist, her paintings and prints show Brighton in all its aspects from the sea to the downs, from the back streets to the Georgian facades, in oil, gouache, ink and wash, wood and lino cut.
