Mark Glassman's recent paintings express the on-going dialogue between the artist’s vision and the Sussex landscape that surrounds him, where he continues to experiment with the fluid and textural qualities of paint, abstracted forms and graphic simplicity based on feeling and observation.
A local sculptor in Lewes, Serena Thirkell recently said of Mark’s work:
“I love Mark Glassman’s work. I have his painting of a Norman country church, its pointed hat tower stark against the fields and sky as I see it whenever I go past. He has a strong, evocative and highly original style when painting Sussex: its cliffs, seaside, fields and lanes. His record of a time and place on the Sussex coast has to me an unparalleled truthfulness and graphic beauty.”
